Operation and maintenance plan and physical configuration audit exceeded customer expectations.
- Lead $3M exhaust analysis Cross-Functional Team (CFT) to minimize impact of NOX and other hypersonic testing byproducts. Resulted in business development for a $4M exhaust mitigation project.
- Developed/Led a $6M CFT to de-conflict multiple test facilities reliance on air supply and vacuum due to high operational costs. CFT met all goals in the charter.
- Fast tracked request to add spectro pyrometer and real time tracking of edge detection to accommodate for thermal growth. Coordinated modifications to test cell to ensure proper shielding for sensitive equipment. Completed 4 months ahead of schedule. Customer saw a 12% improvement in distance traveled.
Project Engineer
- Successfully managed a team of engineering professionals through the completion of capital improvement projects portfolio of $20M. Projects included new equipment design / implementation, infrastructure modification/construction, ergonomic enhancements, and continuous improvements.
Led team of 30 hourly operators and 4 Mechanical Engineers in monthly kaizen events. Implemented changes that increased packing throughput by 8%. - Implemented a new Maintenance Management system (CMMS) with the partnership of regional maintenance team. Reduced contractor labor by 19% YoY by improving work orders attached to preventative maintenance inputs in the new CMMS. Reduced unplanned work orders by 10% YoY and open work order duration by an average of 3.5 days.
- Counter measured serious safety near-miss by installing $1.2M of loading dock safety equipment. Install included 22 dock levelers, 55 truck restraints, 7 truck barriers, and 4 overhead doors across 5 facilities in 5 different states. Risk analysis score improved by 86%.
- Created and implemented a plant wide performance improvement plan that increased plant capacity by 50% and profitability by 60%. Spearheaded $14M plant expansion capex request. Project scope included attaching 100K SQ FT building to existing facility, relocating 3 smaller buildings, moving 20 loading docks, addressing floodplain, structural drawings, and fire suppression system relocation/upgrades. Project was delivered without any interruption to production.
- Managed install of $260K textured paint system that ensured 99% recovery of unused paint that remained in lines. Project savings estimated at $400K/year.
Project Engineer/Maintenance Crew Leader
Oversaw manufacturing plant production operations, stakeholder relations, staffing management, cost management, and program coordination.
- Led a team of 72 maintenance technicians to minimize equipment downtime; meet critical repair needs; increase safety and production; while maintaining 250+ automated machines and 40 self-guided vehicles in a 2.2 million square foot facility.
- Oversaw annual maintenance, repair, and labor budget, averaging 7% under budget for FY13-FY17.
- Managed all repair procedures, identifying process improvements and benchmarking/best practice opportunities. This continuous improvement focus led to over $750k of documented cost savings or avoidance.
- Taught 6-Sigma methodology to analyze major mechanical breakdowns. Identified bottlenecks in warehousing that yielded 16% improvement in maximum cubic storage once resolved.
- Actively recruited, interviewed, and on boarded 14 Engineering technicians to support power consumption/sustainability programs. Once cross-trained in 6-sigma problem solving; team achieved annualized savings of $2.2M.
- Partnered with Motlow College to enhance intern program. Created program goals, onboarding and mentoring plan.
Owner and Project Manager

2010 Haiti Earthquake. On the day of the earthquake that devastated Haiti, United States Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton was conducting counter narcotic operations off the coast of Panama. In response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding on the island, we were directed to Guantanamo Bay to collect critical supplies. This was the first time many of us would cross the Panama Canal. Our embarked helicopter was utilized to deliver blood supply to the U.S.N.S. Comfort and to provide logistical support to the relief effort. We were also able to bring 88 people to safety as the vessel in which they were fleeing the island was in unstable conditions; they would likely have capsized.
This experience taught me so many invaluable lessons and instilled great pride for our crew and the difference we could make.
